Sorry .

I'm sorry I lost all your Cd's when I was younger. I still hear you say, " I wonder what happened to all my Pink Floyd CD's?"I loved listening to The Wall on your Cd player, and twirling around the living room. I'm sorry that I found your Nirvana Nevermind album and brought it to Amy's house...then left it in her boombox.

I'm sorry for feeling like the car was sometimes turned into a purgatory. I remember you would sing out loud in the car, and I would be pressing my face against the window. At that time, I thought it was embarrassing. At eleven years old, I loved Duran,Duran and R.E.M. , the Rolling Stones and Pink Floyd.

All of these musicians have had an impact on  my selective ears.   Finally, I am sorry mom. Sorry that you had what I think is exceptional taste in music, and indirectly giving me access to epic tunes.

  1. I've only taken a few CD's from my old man over the years. My mom's stuff is not my style. Neil Diamond, Englebert Humperdink and Tom Jones are not in my repertoire. I think I stole tapes from my brother, but to be honest, I think he still has his tapes from the 80's.

I know my style and tastes change season to season and year to year. I know for a fact my family still listens to the same crap, over and over, over and over...

I'm not sure where I got likes from? Maybe it was because where I grew up had 3 radio stations, NPR and Polka. Maybe it was that need to find something else that drove me to constantly change my taste in music? Who knows? I do wish someone would have had some decent swag for me to steal.

  2. Tapes! wouldnt it be crazy if people started using those again? I highly doubt it. I don't think technology would approve. When the lion King first came out ( ages ago) I recieved the whole soundtrack on tape! I can't believe how far we have come with the various mediums for music.

  3. The pictures you used for this post are great! Your memories of your mom singing in the car, remind me of my mom and I. I used to just turn up the radio on her :) Thinking back, she actually had a great taste in music, however I was probably just too young to appreciate it.

  4. This post was amazing. The mix of tones and storytelling aspect made it all worth it. It also gives a small insight to the relationship you have with your Mom in a short and sweet form. I like it a lot. Keep it up
